The British Fire Consortium Launches the Young Person’s Foundation to Support the Next Generation of Fire Safety Professionals

The British Fire Consortium (BFC) is proud to announce the launch of its Young Person’s Foundation, a new initiative designed to help member companies recruit, train, and inspire the next generation of fire safety professionals.

As part of its long-standing mission to raise standards and support businesses across the UK fire industry, the BFC’s Young Person’s Foundation provides members with a 75% discount on training fees for employees aged 18–25. The initiative makes high-quality, accredited education more accessible than ever for young people entering the industry.

The Foundation provides training across four key disciplines: Fire Alarm Technician, Fire Extinguisher Technician, Fire Door Inspection, and -new for 2026 -Emergency Lighting. Each course leads to an EAL Level 3 qualification and is delivered by the BFC’s network of experienced trainers. With small class sizes, hands-on learning, and nationwide availability, our courses are designed to provide practical, high-quality training.

The initiative also aims to tackle one of the industry’s growing challenges: attracting and retaining skilled professionals. By supporting young entrants with both training and mentorship opportunities, the Foundation will help member companies strengthen their teams while ensuring the long-term sustainability of fire safety expertise in the UK.

The Young Person’s Foundation is open to BFC members of at least one year’s standing, and applications can be made directly through the Consortium’s Secretariat. The BFC encourages all eligible members to take advantage of this opportunity to invest in young talent and contribute to the continued professionalism of the UK fire safety sector.
